FAQ
Short, calm responses to common questions about Ember.
Ember is built for calm focus. There are no notifications, inboxes, or activity feeds competing for your attention. You decide when to engage, and the product stays out of your way.
Yes. Every account includes **2 free collaborator seats**, permanent, no credit card required. You can invite those 2 people across any of your workspaces at no cost. Teams that need to invite more people pay per additional seat, and every paid plan includes a 14-day free trial.
All billing is processed securely through Paddle (paddle.com). Ember does not store your credit card or other payment details on its servers.
Yes. Educational organizations and NGOs receive special pricing of €1 per seat per month.
You can request a full refund within 14 calendar days of any charge, with no exceptions or conditions. Contact support for help.
Yes. We offer special pricing for disabled individuals. For details and eligibility, please contact us directly.
No. Ember avoids push-based collaboration so you can work when you are ready. It is designed to reduce noise, not create more of it.
Seats are account-level, not workspace-level. If you invite someone to two workspaces, they still use one seat. Your own account never counts toward your seat limit. Free accounts include 2 collaborator seats. Paid seats are purchased once and apply everywhere.
Ember keeps collaboration pull-based. Shared workspaces, clear ownership, and legible status updates keep everyone aligned without endless chatter. Most teams already use communication channels like Slack or similar tools, so conversations and notifications live there, we don’t try to replace them, just provide a lightweight home for the work itself.
Ember supports boards, lists, calendars, and milestones so you can choose the right view for the moment without clutter.
Yes. Ember has a notes space with folders, tabs, a focus mode, and [[links]] between notes, with a graph view of how they connect. Notes hold everything Markdown can: tables, images, highlighted code, Mermaid diagrams, formulas, and footnotes, and you can paste from other apps or import .md files. Select any text to turn it into a task that keeps its live status. Notes are yours until you share them, and the desktop app can capture a quick note from anywhere with a global shortcut.
Yes. Share a note or a whole folder with people from your workspaces, or with a whole workspace, to view or to edit. Everyone in a shared note sees who else is there, where they are typing, and every change as it happens. Notes and folders shared with you are listed under Shared with me.
Ember has boards: a shared canvas inside Notes for flows and quick diagrams, with stickies, shapes, text, and labelled arrows. Everyone on a board edits it together, any item can become a task that shows its status, and a board exports as PNG or SVG. It is deliberately simpler than a full whiteboard tool.
Yes. Every workspace starts with built-in statuses and types that work out of the box. Owners can add custom ones, such as In Review or Research, or rename the built-ins. Each custom status belongs to a built-in category, so boards, filters, and reports keep working the same way.
Yes. Set a task to repeat daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly. When you complete it, the next one is created for you.
Yes. Ember supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), so any MCP-compatible agent can work with your tasks, projects, milestones, and notes. Changes made by agents appear in each project's Activity tab, and you can use a local model so your data never leaves your machine.
Your dashboard shows your open work at a glance. **Do Next** ranks tasks by due date and priority and labels why each one is there, such as Overdue or Due today. **Priorities vs. reality** compares each project's share of your recent work with the share its priority asks for, and flags where the two disagree. From there you can start a work session of any length, with or without time estimates.
No. Ember does not use behavioral analytics, session replay, ads, or AI trained on your content. Only minimal, anonymous telemetry is used to keep the service healthy.
Yes. Ember includes manual data export so you can take your work with you.
Yes. Ember lets you manually export your work, and you can also import data per project using a simple CSV so it’s easy to move work in or out.
